Re: Changing Wiki admin password

You can't change the password within Dokuwiki.  It can't be done externally.

I think your best bet is to register yourself as a new user. Then edit wiki/conf/users.auth to add that new user to the admin group.

More information on changing paswords can be found at wiki.splitbrain.org/wiki:tips.  Be aware that the current dokuwiki release is several versions later than that which comes with Blog:CMS so all the information provided there may not be applicable.

Re: Changing Wiki admin password

There is a single file that holds all the usernames and passwords Google MD5 and you should find some sort of site that will generate an MD5 of your chosen password.  Edit the file and bingo.  You can also add new admin level users in this way.

Create a backup in case it goes wrong.

That said there are notes within the authentication function as to how you can point it at another method.  (like BLOG:CMS / Forum)  I'll be looking into this when I get home from my honeymoon which starts in a few days.

Re: Changing Wiki admin password

In fact here is the software to generate MD5 encription:

http://www.downloadtopc.com/getnow/29/1 … s_MD5.html

however, when you use it in BLOG CMS Wiki, convert the alphabets to lower case, then only it works!

Re: Changing Wiki admin password

It is ind of sad that I registered to this site just to add this but whatever:

A clarification - by default dokuwiki uses "smd5" or a salted md5sum of the password. So, don't just do something like:

md5sum < theplaintextpassword

.. and expect that to work by default, because you need the salt with the plaintext password. The implications of this are that you can't simply copy hashes over across dokuwiki's unless the salt is the same.
